A poem inspired by the parents and carers I interviewed for my research. Many parents and carers told me that they do not appreciate being called ‘mum’ and I happen to agree. Professionals know my name so they should use it. Small changes like this can make parents and carers feel more like equal partners in their children’s education and future.
